Maungakiekie Clinic was established over 50 years ago to provide our community with affordable, accessible healthcare.\u00a0 Due to the wonderful support of our community, Maungakiekie Clinic has expanded with Physiotherapists and a Acupuncturist<\/p>\n

We have three GP\u2019s at Maungakiekie Clinic.\u00a0 Dr Monirul Islam, Dr Neela Ahmed and most recently Dr Simon Mackereth who has joined us from Ranfurly Medical Centre.\u00a0 All of our GP\u2019s have over 20 years experience within General Practice and are all fully qualified members of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.<\/p>\n

I graduated in 1990 from Chittagong Medical College in Bangladesh.\u00a0 After finishing my internship in 1991, I worked in a diabetes Hospital, under 5 Clinic and gathered some experience in Ophthalmology before migrating to New Zealand in 1995.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I started my General Practice career in 1999 at Whitianga.\u00a0 After enjoying my rural general practice for over 4 years, I moved to Auckland in 2003 which is where I became a Fellow of Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners in 2006.\u00a0 I also ventured into Cosmetic Medicine for 10 years since 2006 side by side my General Practice and had earned the Fellowship of New Zealand Society of Cosmetic Medicine.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I owned my practice in Te Atatu South and served that community for 12 years.\u00a0 I then took over Dr Paul Trotman\u2019s Practice in 2016 at Maungakiekie Clinic. \u00a0In 2007 I became a Fellow Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and held an honorary academic position as a senior lecturer in General Practice at The University of Auckland.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I worked in General Practice in New Zealand for 23 years, and my passion is to offer care to people in every stage of life, both preventative and curative.\u00a0 I enjoy all aspects of General Practice which includes building long term relationships with patients and their whanau.<\/p>\n

I graduated from the University of Auckland in 1987 and worked for several years in a broad range of hospital jobs in N.Z, England and then Uganda before returning to Auckland to take up a Paediatric Registrar role at Middlemore Hospital.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I started in General Practice at the end of 1993 and enjoyed working with children and their whanau in the General Practice setting.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I returned to National Women\u2019s Hospital to obtain a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology followed by the GP training system leading to Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I have extensive experience in all aspects of General Practice\/Family Medicine and a passion for helping people. I enjoy working toward the best possible outcome for my patients and seeing people get the most out of life. I also provide Skin Cancer diagnosis and Management, including Minor Surgery<\/p>\n

\u00a0I am married to Lynette and have 2 adult children, Stephen, and Kerry. I am a Nurse Practitioner working alongside Dr Simon Mackereth. Originally from Vietnam, I moved to New Zealand in 2000 and undertook my nursing education at Auckland University of Technology (AUT). I obtained a Master of Nursing degree from Massey University in 2025. With over 20 years of nursing experience, I am dedicated to delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care, with a strong focus on improving health outcomes for individuals and wh\u0101nau. I am fluent in both Vietnamese and English and am able to provide consultations in both languages.<\/p>\n

As a Nurse Practitioner, I practise within an advanced scope, incorporating comprehensive assessment, clinical decision-making, prescribing, and interdisciplinary collaboration to provide holistic and equitable healthcare.<\/p>\n

Outside of clinical practice, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband, David, and our daughter, Chloe. Camping and outdoor activities provide valuable opportunities for relaxation, family connection, and personal
